Now more than ever we need to find ways of looking after our physical and mental wellbeing, walking in nature is a proven way to feel better about ourselves and the world around us. Here in the north of England we are lucky to have some of the best countryside in Great Britain, and a lot of it is accessible.

Research has shown that spending time in the countryside or on the beach can have a positive effect on our wellbeing, in can help us to perceive the world as a place of opportunity, and less of a place of turmoil and unrest; and if  we can combine our interest in modern technology with countryside activities, it can make it all the more worthwhile.


Being physically prepared is also very important, choosing the right type of walk for your level of fitness is essential. Being aware of some of the potential dangers that exist in some of the wilder parts of the region is also vital.
